Working as a UI/UX designer for an interior design project using Unreal Engine and pixel streaming technologies to power an immersive 3D experience for interior architects. 
I worked on user journey maps, user flows and wireframes which were presented to the key stakeholders.

Having helped my best man with his wedding invites I experienced first-hand the limitations of many digital invitation sites. So when it came to planning my own wedding invitations I decided to create something bespoke.
The future Mrs Welch was looking for something easy for everyone to use, that required minimum effort to manage on our part and would provide a clear and accurate dashboard of all of RSVPs…and it had to look beautiful.

A landing page for the hugely popular mobile game.

I was approached by Other Things Agency with a brief with the goal to promote a new feature the hugely popular mobile racing game ‘Rebel Racing’. Players will visit this landing page to associate themselves with one of two teams. A reward of in-game SWAG should be displayed alongside a call to action to join the team. As there are two teams, there are two “prizes”. Joining a team is essentially voting for that in-game reward/prize and agreeing that the XP collected over the duration of the promotion will contribute to the team’s total score.

Encouraging more people to download a popular mobile game

It’s such a laborious process and even when you think you’ve got to the end most of your data hasn’t even loaded for whatever reason so it’s just easier to start from scratch every time. it’s a good idea in princpal but it just doesn’t deliver the efficiency to make it useful

People were saying that it doesn’t even feel like the same tool - they’ve learnt that it can offer them so much more than they had realised. The benefits and how it works it just so much more obvious and it looks so much clearer that people are hopefully going to engage with it more.”

The number of customers using the Bill of Materials (BOM) Tool, which had been designed specifically to make the process of repeat ordering easier, was declining. 


Farnell had ambitious targets to increase their digital revenue growth, so the need to smooth out the repeat ordering process was an essential contributor to this overall goal as these repeat orders tended to be some of the largest in the business.


From a UX/UI perspective the real challenge was working around the legacy inventory systems (which wouldn’t be changing) that underpinned the existing BOM tool and understanding how the user journey could be adapted around this.


There was also an existing internal expectation of what the product should look like based on previous projects around the BOM tool which created a set of boundaries that we also had to navigate.


We had a limited scope for customer feedback and testing, so choosing our moments required careful consideration.


We were given a x timeframe to complete the initial minimum viable product.

Streamlining the Procurement Process for buyers

Designing a flexible design system

The details were so prominent on the page and it seemed to be turning up no results so it just made more sense to call.

Calls to the customer team decreased by 35%

Calls to the help centre team had increased over time despite the Help Centre being a huge section of the website.


Data on the site was proving difficult for customers to navigate and commonly asked questions weren’t being captured to understand how the site needed to be improved and what Frequently Asked Questions would help.


The cost of scaling up the number of customer agents to keep up pace with the number of calls was not sustainable. A full overhaul of the site and triaging process to the customer agents was therefore required.

Helping customers answer their questions faster - and reducing call centre volume about these queries

When bidding for consturction projects it is crucial materials can be estimated accurately. The challenge was to provide the right tools, balanced with flexibility and ease of use. I worked with the principle UX designer to work through research and develop wire frames and prototypes. I was able to bring prototypes to live through Javascript and React mock ups. The contract oversaw the initial MVP stage of the product build.

Designing an intuitive Quantity Takeoff product

After a year at Farnell I became part of the Personalisation Squad.

This was an agile working group made up of myself as UX/UI designer, a developer, a product owner, a Conversion Rate Optimisation specialist, Business Analyst and a Scrum Master.

Different teams across the business such as Marketing, Sales and Customer Research would generate a hypothesis to be tested These were submitted to us as a squad and we would work through tickets and estimate effort on a weekly sprint basis.

As a squad we had an ambitious target to increase revenue by 46% from recommendations alone.

As the sole UX/UI designer within the team I was responsible for translating these hypotheses in to working prototypes which could be AB tested.

By the time I chose to move on - the squad was on track to meet the target at 44% with one month left to go.

Continual product improvements and experimental AB testing with B2B Personalisation

Re-imagining landing pages to improve customer acquisitions with dynamic content via modular designs which could be easily translated to multiple campaigns and offers.

Building a custom widget in BannerFlow with auto-resizing capabilities making the design of different sized banners much quicker for in-house designers.

Streamlining market data in API feeds to make the integration of live odds possible, providing real-time offers for William Hill customers for the first time and for all fixtures, not just isolated campaigns.

Prototyping the integration of live odds to display banner within established BannerFlow system.

Linking banner offers to pre-populated landing pages enabling customers to place their bets more quickly.
